In September 2014, Ricardo joined Vondst as partner. Before Vondst, Ricardo headed the patent litigation practice of a large Dutch law firm, where he worked for more than thirteen years.
Ricardo specializes in intellectual property law, in which he mainly litigates (cross border) patent and knowhow disputes and disputes regarding life sciences and medical devices. Besides patent litigation in the field of medicinal products and medical devices, Ricardo also litigates on patents in the field of mechanical engineering, electronics and chemistry.
In addition, with mergers and acquisitions and stock market quotations, Ricardo drafts due diligence reports and opinions on the intellectual property aspects of companies as well as aspects relating to regulations concerning medicinal products, medical devices, food products, health products and cosmetics. In this context, he has also been involved in various restructurings of global patent portfolios.

At the University of Groningen, Ricardo gives guest lectures on international patent litigation and international private law (international procedural law and applicable law) and patent law. Ricardo is also active within the professional association AIPPI and a member of the Dutch Association of Pharmacy and Law and the European Patent Lawyers Association (EPLAW), VIEPA (with specialization patent law) and PTMG.
Ricardo has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister): Intellectual Property (Intellectueel Eigendomsrecht). Based on this registration, Ricardo is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
